Roman Harper Signs “Extension” With The Saints

Larry Holder of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reported earlier in the day that the Saints had renegotiated the contract of S Roman Harper.

  • Ian Rapoport reports that Harper actually received an extension that will add another year to his contract.
  • According to Rapoport, Harper receives $4 million guaranteed in 2013.

Harper, 30, was set to make $5.25 million for this season and had a cap number of $7.1 million. His new extension will reduce his cap figure, which is obviously good news for the Saints, considering that they have the most money committed to their 2014 cap than any other team in the league.

It’s worth noting that Harper won’t have any guaranteed money beyond the 2013 season, so the Saints could always part ways with him if he puts together another disappointing season.
