Ronnie Brown’s Last Year In Miami?

A few weeks ago an interesting perspective on the Miami Dolphins unproductive backfield was provided by Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. Kelly suggested that the Dolphins are trying to limit the number of goal line opportunities for both Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams because they will both become free agents at the end of the season. By limiting their productive it would in turn lower their asking price come the offseason.

Brian Biggane of the Palm Beach Post asked Brown if the lack of longterm security weighs on him, to which Brown responded, “A little bit.”

Brown will be a valuable commodity this offseason but it will be interesting to see what kind of payday his previous production parlays into. Running backs seem to be becoming a disposable commodity which could lead to him getting smaller offers than in years past.

Miami may wined up choosing to keep only one of the two backs and look to the draft for a replacement.
