Ronnie Lott Group Submits Formal Plan To Keep Raiders In Oakland

Josh Dubow of the Associated Press reports that Ronnie Lott’s investment group, Fortress, has recently submitted a formal plan to the NFL for the first time to build a stadium for the Raiders in Oakland.

According to the Dubow’s sources, Fortress’ plan is “fundamentally” the same as the one previously made public in December. However, they have clarified some questions that were raised by the NFL.

Back in December, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said the league has “not made great progress” with Oakland and there was no deal on the table that addressed long-term issues regarding the club and communities involved.

Dubow adds that the NFL and Lott group have been in contact since their December meeting to answer any questions they had.

Fortress and Oakland officials hope to have a viable option to present to NFL owners prior to their meeting in late March when they vote on whether to allow the Raiders to move to Las Vegas.

Earlier this month, Raiders president Marc Badain mentioned that they’re still “fully committed” to relocating the team to Las Vegas and the proposed stadium, despite the developments that led to Sheldon Adelson withdrawing from the project.

“The organization remains fully committed to this project,” Badain told the stadium authority board members, via NFL.com. “We are not deterred. Financing will not be an issue.

Two weeks ago, Jason Cole reported that Badain informed the league that they have “two banks” ready to loan them money to move forward with the Las Vegas stadium project.
