Giants Signing OT D.J. Fluker To One-Year, $3M Deal

Mike Garafolo reports that former Chargers OT D.J. Fluker has agreed to a one-year deal with the Giants.

Fluker reportedly had interest from eight other teams mentions being in the market for him, including the Patriots, Saints, Lions, Seahawks, Colts, Vikings, Cardinals and Falcons. Although, he took just one visit and met with the Giants this week.

The Giants clearly needed some offensive line depth and Fluker likes a good value with decent upside for them.

It’s worth mentioning that signing Fluker to a contract won’t impact a team’s compensatory picks, considering that he was released.

Fluker, 25, is a former first-round pick of the Chargers back in 2013. He played out his four-year, $11,402,498 contract before the Chargers elected to pick up his fifth-year option worth $8.821 million for the 2017 season.

Unfortunately, the Chargers released him in a move that freed up $8,821,000 of available cap space while creating no dead money.

In 2016, Fluker appeared in all 16 games for the Chargers and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 54 guard out of 72 qualifying players.

We had him featured in our Top 50 Available Free Agents list.
