Ryan Fitzpatrick Could Be Cap Casualty

Khaled Elsayed of Pro Football Focus (via ESPN Insider) writes that Ryan Fitzpatrick could end up being a cap casualty this offseason given that he has a cap figure of $10.4 million next season.

Buffalo has made it pretty clear that they intend to look for another quarterback during the offseason and the fact that they’ve brought in a new head coach in Doug Marrone only suggests that Fitzpatrick’s days in Buffalo could be numbered.

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stevie Johnson claims he still has faith in Fitzpatrick’s ability to lead the team, but believes the team’s front office would be wise to bring another quarterback in to compete for the starting job.

“Because competition brings out the best in us,” Johnson said, via Tim Graham of the Buffalo News“If we went out and got another quarterback, who knows what’ll happen? Fitz may still win, or the other guy my win. Let it happen like that.”

Fitzpatrick really struggled to stretch the field this past season, completing just 27.5 percent of his passes that traveled at least 20 yards through the air, per ProFootballFocus.com.
