Ryan Tannehill Inactive, Dolphins Starting Brock Osweiler Against Bears

The Miami Dolphins are starting Brock Osweiler in Sunday’s game against the Bears after it was determined that Ryan Tannehill (questionable, shoulder) was unable to suit up.

Tannehill is reportedly dealing with a sprained AC joint and it appears to be a serious enough issue to force him to miss today’s game.

Osweiler, 27, is a former second-round pick of the Broncos in 2012. He played out his rookie contract with the Broncos before signing a four-year, $72 million contract with the Texans that included $37 million guaranteed back in 2016.

The Texans traded Osweiler and a 2018 second-round pick to the Browns in return for a 2017 fourth-round pick. Cleveland had been attempting to trade Osweiler since they acquired him but the ultimately cut him loose coming out of the preseason after no deal surfaced.

Osweiler returned to the Broncos and finished out the season in Denver before agreeing to a one-year, $880,000 deal with the Dolphins this past March.

In 2017, Osweiler appeared in six games and completed 55.8 percent of his passes for 1,088 yards to go along with five touchdowns and five interceptions. He also rushed for 64 yards and a touchdown.
