Ryan Torain Taking Over The Redskins Starting RB Position?

Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan seems to be ready to employ his patented “running back by committee” approach moving forward.

We’re going to play the best players,” Shanahan said, via Washington Post. “The good thing about it, we’ve got three football players at the running back position. All three guys can play. … We’ll play the hot guy.”

Ryan Torain put together a solid performance yesterday after carrying the ball 19 times for 135 yards and a touchdown.

“I finally got the opportunity to get out there and make some plays,” said Torain. “It felt good.”

Tim Hightower was off to a fast start but  only managed to tally 22 yards on seven carries yesterday. The hot hand appears to belong to Torain for the time being but that is almost certainly going to change as each player brings a different skill set to the team’s running game.
