Ryan Torain Washington’s No. 1 RB?

Coming into week 4’s match up against the Philadelphia Eagles there was already some talk of the Redskins limiting Clinton Portis’s carries because of a lack of production and a possible injury. Backup RB Ryan Torain was the obvious benefactor after the team made the decision cut Keiland Williams.

During yesterdays game the Redskins gave Torain 18 carries which led to 70 yards and a touchdown while Clinton Portis received 11 carries and totaled 55 yards on the ground. Torain’s extra carriers may have had something to do with an a groin injury that Portis suffered.

After the game Portis spoke with the Washington Post and mentioned that he “heard it pop.” Portis’s injury will be evaluated today but the injury will no  doubt have an effect on the number of carriers he will get against Green Bay this weekend. Torain remains in line for another 18 – 20 carries.
