Saints Aren’t Planning To Re-Sign S Kenny Vaccaro

Josh Katzenstein of Times-Picayune, citing multiple sources, reports that the Saints are planning to bring back free agent S Kenny Vaccaro this offseason.

Vaccaro tells Katzenstein that he isn’t surprised to hear that the Saints are moving on, even though he admitted to being frustrated about it initially.

“It kind of frustrated me a little at first,” Vaccaro said, “but I understand it is what is.”

Vaccaro added that he was hoping to finish out his career in New Orleans.

“I love the Saints,” Vaccaro said. “Obviously, if it was my choice, you would want to stay with the team you played your whole career with.

One speculative team to watch for Vaccaro is the Cowboys, given that reports from last year said that the Saints attempted to trade him to Dallas during the 2017 draft.

Vaccaro, 27, is a former first-round pick of the Saints back in 2013. He was in the final year of his four-year, $9.425 million contract when the Saints elected to pick up his fifth-year option last year that will pay him $5.676 million for the 2017 season.

Vaccaro will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

In 2017, Vaccaro appeared in 12 games for the Saint and recorded 60 tackles, 1.5 sacks, three interceptions, a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown and seven pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 88 safety out of 88 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 100  – 2018 NFL Free Agents list.
