Saints Claim CB Sammy Seamster (Dolphins), Place 3rd Rd Pick PJ Williams On I.R.

Field Yates of ESPN (per Evan Woodbery) reports that the Saints have claimed CB Sammy Seamster off of waivers from the Dolphins on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Ian Rapoport reports that the Saints have placed third-round CB P.J. Williams on season-ending injured reserve Tuesday with a torn hamstring.

This explains why Seamster was claimed off of waivers. According to Rapoport, New Orleans had “high hopes” for Williams in 2015.

Seamster, 25, wound up signing on with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent out of Middle Tennessee State back in 2014. He was unable to make the Ravens’ 53-man roster that year, but was later claimed by the Dolphins.

Miami elected to cut Seamster on Monday as they trimmed their roster down to 75 players.

In 2014, Seamster appeared in two games for the Dolphins, but didn’t record a single statistic.
