Saints Claim OT Bryce Harris Off Waivers, Cut DT John Hughes

Field Yates of ESPN is reporting that the Saints claimed OT Bryce Harris off of waivers from the 49ers on Monday and waived veteran DT John Hughes.

  • Saints waived WR Corey Fuller and OT Martin Wallace from injured reserve.

Harris, 28, originally signed on with the Falcons as an undrafted free agent out of Fresno State back in 2012. He later joined the Saints before the start of the 2012 season and spent three years in New Orleans before he was waived at the start of the 2015 season.

The Falcons later signed Harris to a contract, but he was unfortunately among their roster cuts coming out of the preseason last year.

Harris had brief stints with the Jaguars and Dolphins before he signed on with the Saints. He was on and off of the Saints’ roster for the most of the season before signing on with the Lions. After Detroit cut him loose, the 49ers signed him to a contract.

In 2017, Harris has been active for two games for the Saints.

Hughes, 28, is a former third-round pick of the Browns back in 2012. He spent over four years in Cleveland before he was released a few weeks into the 2016 season.

Hughes had a brief stint with the Patriots before signing on with the Buccaneers midseason. The Saints gave him a shot to compete for a roster spot during training camp, but he was released as their trimmed their roster down to 53 players coming out of the preseason.

Hughes has been on and off of their active roster this season.

In 2017, Hughes appeared in one game and recorded one tackle.
