Saints Considering Releasing MLB Jonathan Vilma?

Mike Triplett of the New Orleans Times-Picayune writes the the Saints could free up $3.4 million in cap space for the upcoming season by releasing MLB Jonathan Vilma.

Triplett specifically points to fact that Vilma’s production last season dropped “noticeably,” although he was playing with a knee injury.

Vilma has been in the headlines recently for some pretty bad reasons, given his involvement in the bounty scandal. New Orleans isn’t exactly in need of the extra cap space but it’s a possible option that they could consider depending on how things go following the leagues ruling.

  1. This is what the NFL and the other teams want to see the New Orleans Saints go down right now they are seeing which other team are the best contender that can run for the Super Bowl now that Drew Brees is out and the Saints are losing all of there key play makers. Look like its all about the dollars not about the best team, Super Bowl, keeping the players together its all about I were is the love for your team. That saying, were told together you stand divide you will fall Drew Brees must stand and take the Saints thru the strom the fans or counting on Drew Brees bring them out once again.

    • I agree with you Larry. Brees is the only person that’s going to be able to right the ship and redirect all of the negative attention. Things look pretty bad right now in New Orleans but Brees is arguably the most polarizing player in the NFL but it’s gong to be extremely important for them get a contract done and prevent him from holding out of the teams’ workouts.
