Saints Create $2.71M Of Cap Space By Reworking Teddy Bridgewater’s Contract

According to Field Yates, the Saints recently created over $2.71 million of cap space by reworking QB Teddy Bridgewater‘s contract and converting just over $4 million of his salary into a signing bonus.

The Saints also added two voidable years to Bridgewater’s contract to spread this out. This gives them some breathing room as they enter the regular season.

Bridgewater, 25, is a former first-round pick of the Vikings back in 2014. He played out the final year of his four-year, $6,849,502 rookie contract after Minnesota declined to pick up his fifth-year option.

This offseason, Bridgewater signed a one-year, $6 million contract with the Jets that includes just $500,000 guaranteed. The Jets later traded him to the Saints during the preseason.

In 2017, Bridgewater appeared in one game for the Vikings and was 0-2 passing and threw an interception.
