The New Orleans Saints have released RB Tim Hightower with an injury waiver just a day after they re-signed him to a contract.
Both Hightower and G Mike McGlynn were released a few days ago so that the Saints could promote Jones and Opurum from their practice squad.
The team elected to bring both players back on Tuesday, after their contracts were no loner guaranteed.
Hightower, 29, signed a reserve/future contract with the Saints back in January, as he attempted a comeback in the NFL.
Hightower last appeared in an NFL game during the 2011 season while playing for the Redskins.
