Saints DC Rob Ryan Will Return For Another Season

Larry Holder of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that Saints DC Rob Ryan’s job is “safe,” and he will return for the 2015 season.

Holder’s source added that there will be changes to the defensive coaching staff and personnel.

Already this week, the Saints have fired TEs coach Terry Malone, WRs coach Henry Ellard and assistant secondary coach Andre Curtis.

Ian Rapoport mentions that New Orleans wants to do a better job of supporting Ryan, rather than hit the reset button again.

Ryan received a ton of support from the Saints players after the regular season came to an end, despite the fact that the defense took a huge step backwards in 2014.

The Saints finished the year 31st in total defense, 25th in pass defense, 29th in run defense, 28th in points allowed and 25th in sacks.

It won’t be easy for New Orleans to make major personnel changes given that they are projected to be way over the cap. With this in mind, their 2015 draft class will likely play a big role in filling roster holes on both sides of the ball.
