Saints Expected To Part Ways With DC Rob Ryan After The Season

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that the relationship between Saints HC Sean Payton and DC Rob Ryan has been “rapidly deteriorating this season.

According to La Canfora, the two men “strongly dislike each other and a change is inevitable this offseason.”

Sources have told La Canfora that the issues between Payton and Ryan have been obvious to many within the team for quite some time.

Interestingly enough, Ryan is reportedly “well liked” by the team, but Payton places very high expectations on his coaching staff, so the fact that the team’s defense has regressed from last year won’t help Ryan’s chances of being back for another season.

La Canfora points out that New Orleans has gone through a number of defensive coordinators in recent years like Gregg Williams and Steve Spagnuolo. They’ve also invested heavily in the defensive side of the ball, so the higher expectations are warranted to some degree.

We’ll have more updates regarding Ryan’s future with the team as the news is available.
