Saints Hosting QB Chase Daniel For Visit

Adam Caplan of ESPN is reporting that the Saints are hosting veteran QB Chase Daniel for a visit on Sunday.

This is the first reported interest in Daniel since he was released last week.

Daniel is among the best quarterbacks available in free agency, and while he’s said he would like to secure an opportunity to compete for a job, it appears as though he’s open to being a backup quarterback.

Daniel, 30, originally signed on with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Missouri back in 2010. He spent three years in New Orleans before signing on with the Chiefs in 2013.

After another three years in Kansas City, Daniels signed a three-year, $21 million contract that included $12 million guaranteed with the Eagles last year. However, the Eagles released Daniel last week in a move that freed up $6 million of available cap space.

In 2016, Daniel appeared in one game for the Eagles and completed one pass for 16 yards.
