Alex Marvez of the Sporting News, citing two sources, reports that the Saints interviewed former 49ers HC Jim Tomsula for their defensive line coach position.

New Orleans parted ways with a number of defensive coaches after the season including defensive line coach after Bill Johnson.

This isn’t the first we’ve heard about Tomsula in recent weeks, as Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee reported Tomsula is on the Redskins’ radar as a potential addition to their coaching staff.

After being fired by the 49ers last January, Tomsula sat out the entire 2016 season.

Tomsula, 48, began his NFL coaching career with the 49ers as their defensive line coach back in 2007. He stayed in this position for several years before he took over for Jim Harbaugh after he was fired in 2015.

Tomsula’s record with the 49ers is 6-11 (35.3 percent), which includes one game he filled in as the team’s interim head coach during the 2010 season.

We’ll have more regarding the Saints and Tomsula as the news is available.
