Saints Sign LB Manti Te’o To Two-Year, $5M Deal

Mike Triplett of ESPN reports that the Saints have agreed to a two-year contract with former Chargers LB Manti Te’o.

  • Ian Rapoport reports that Te’o receives a two-year contract worth $5 million with $600,000 guaranteed. Te’o has $500,000 in annual per-game roster bonuses.
  • Ben Volin adds that there is also another $1 million available in incentives.

Dan Graziano of ESPN is reporting that the Saints and former Chargers LB Manti Te’o are close to an agreement on a deal that could be signed by Tuesday.

New Orleans brought Te’o in a for a visit at the start of free agency, but there hasn’t been any reported interest in him since then.

Te’o, 26, is a former second-round pick of the Chargers back in 2013. He played out the final year of his our-year, $5.172 million rookie contract and is now testing the open market for the first time in his career.

In 2016, Te’o appeared in three games and recorded 17 tackles for the Chargers before he was placed on season-ending injured reserve with a torn Achilles. Pro Football Focus has Te’o down for playing a total of 142 snaps last season.
