Saints Place DT Tony McDaniel On IR, Promote DT Woodrow Hamilton

The New Orleans Saints officially placed DT Tony McDaniel on injured reserve Wednesday and promoted DT Woodrow Hamilton to their active roster, according to Field Yates.

McDaniel, 32, originally signed on with the Jaguars back in 2006 as an undrafted free agent out of Tennessee. After three years in Jacksonville, McDaniel was traded to the Dolphins in return for a seventh-round pick that ultimately became WR Julian Edelman.

McDaniel had brief stints with the Seahawks and Buccaneers before he signed a one-year, $1 million contract this past June. Unfortunately, New Orleans released coming out of the preseason, but he managed to sign on with the 49ers a few months later. San Francisco cut him loose after one month and he caught on with the Saints in December.

In 2017, McDaniel appeared in five games for the 49ers and Saints and recorded eight tackles, no sacks, a forced fumble and a pass defense.
