Saints Place LB Jonathan Vilma On Season-Ending Injured Reserve

The New Orleans Saints placed ILB Jonathan Vilma on season-ending injured reserve on Wednesday.

This move comes just four day after the Saints activated Vilma from injured reserve. Vilma was able to practice each of the past two weeks, but New Orleans apparently doesn’t believe he will be able to contribute this season.

Vilma, 31, is in the final year of his contract and will be an unrestricted free agent following the season. At this point in time, it’s fair to wonder if he will play in the NFL again. He has undergone multiple knee surgeries dating back to 2011 and hasn’t played a full season since 2010.

The Saints will move forward with David Hawthorne and Curtis Lofton as their starting inside linebackers.
