Saints Placing DL Obum Gwacham On Injured Reserve

Nick Underhill of The Advocate reports that the Saints are placing DL Obum Gwacham on injured reserve Wednesday to make room for OT Khalif Barnes, who is being signed to a contract.

Gwacham, 25, is a former sixth-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2015. He was unable to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason last year but wound up being claimed off of waivers by the Saints.

Gwacham is currently in the second year of his four-year, $2,370,484 contract and set to make a base salary of $525,000 for the 2016 season.

In 2015, Gwacham appeared in nine games for the Saints and recorded seven tackles, 1.5 sacks and a fumble recovery.
