The Saints have promoted C Cameron Tom to their active roster and signed OL Nate Theaker to the practice squad on Wednesday, according to Nick Underhill.
The Saints’ practice squad now consists of:
- WR Travin Dural
- OL John Fullington
- TE Garrett Griffin
- DE Alex Jenkins (International)
- G Landon Turner
- DB Arthur Maulet
- DT Woodrow Hamilton
- LB Shayne Skov
- LB Gabe Martin
- LB Adam Bighill
- OL Nate Theaker
Tom, 22, wound up signing a three-year, $1.66 million contract with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Southern Miss back in May. He was set to make base salaries of $465,000 and $555,000 over the first two years of the contract when the Saints cut him loose coming out of the preseason and later signed him to their practice squad.
According to Underhill, the Redskins attempted to sign Tom off of the Saints’ practice squad last week but New Orleans increased his salary to an active roster rate of $27,352 per week.
Tom has yet to appear in an NFL game.
