Saints QB Drew Brees Considered A “Long Shot” For Week 4

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Saints QB Drew Brees is viewed as a “long shot” to play in Week 4’s game against the Cowboys.

According to Rapoport, Brees is still working hard to return from his shoulder injury, but he faces a “steep climb.”

While some have said that Brees’ shoulder injury is a bruise, Rapoport has been told it’s actually a rotator cuff sprain, which indicates some structural damage.

New Orleans is forced to start Luke McCown against the Panthers today.

Brees, 36, has two years remaining on his five-year, $100 million contract that included $40 million guaranteed. He stands to make base salaries of $18.75 million and $19.75 million over the next two years.

This season, Brees has thrown for 610 yards while completing 62.8 percent of his passes to go along with two touchdowns and two interceptions.
