Saints QB Drew Brees Not Participating In Mandatory Minicamp

The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees will not participate in this week’s mandatory minicamp.

Brees not attending this week’s workouts comes as no surprise. He has yet to sign the tender for the franchise tag that the Saints gave him. Backup QB Chase Daniel ran the team’s offense during OTAs.

Saints GM Mickey Loomis is evaluating basketball prospects this week as part of his new role as New Orleans Hornets adviser, so it appears that the dispute between the two sides for a new long-term deal with continue to linger.

The two parties have until July 16 to agree to a long-term contract.
