Rand Getlin of NFL Media reports that Saints RB Mark Ingram is dealing with a “serious” shoulder injury.

According to Getlin, there is some fear with the Saints that this could be a season-ending issue for Ingram.

Should Ingram miss time, the Saints would likely turn to C.J. Spiller and Tim Hightower as their top-two running backs.

Ingram, 25, is in the first year of his four-year, $16 million contract that included $7.6 million guaranteed. He’ll make a base salary of $1 million this season and another $3 million in 2016.

This year, Ingram has appeared in 12 games and ran for 769 yards on 166 carries (4.6 YPC) to go along with 50 receptions for 405 yards receiving and six total touchdowns.

We’ll have more regarding Ingram’s injury as the news is available.
