Saints Re-Sign Veteran OT Khalif Barnes, Waive DB Brian Dixon

Nick Underhill of the Advocate reports that the Saints have re-signed OT Khalif Barnes on Thursday and waived DB Brian Dixon.

Barnes, 34, is a former second-round pick by the Jaguars of the 2005 NFL Draft. He spent four years with Jacksonville before signing with the Raiders in 2009.

After seven years in Oakland, Barnes signed a one-year contract with the Saints late in the preseason. Unfortunately, he was among their final roster cuts close to a month ago.

The Saints just signed Barnes to a contract a few weeks ago before he was recently cut loose.

In 2015, Barnes appeared in 14 games for the Raiders but was limited to playing just 118 snaps.

Dixon, 26, wound up signing on with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Northwest Missouri State back in 2014. He managed to make the 53-man roster in each of his first two years but was unfortunately cut loose coming out of the preseason. The Saints later signed him to their practice squad.

In 2016, Dixon has been active for one game but has yet to record a single statistic.
