Saints Re-Sign Veteran TE Tom Crabtree

The Saints re-signed veteran TE Tom Crabtree on Monday, according to the NFL transaction release.

New Orleans released on Saturday to make room for ILB Todd Davis, who was signed off of their practice squad.

The Saints brought in a few tight ends for workouts last week including Crabtree and Kellen Davis as insurance in case Jimmy Graham wound up missing a few weeks. However, Graham was active for Sunday’s game, which is likely the reason for his release.

Crabtree spent time with the Packers, so he could be there to help them prepare for their Week 8 match up.

Crabtree, 28, signed a two-year, $1.6 million contract with the Buccaneers back in 2013, but he lasted just a little over a year with the team before he was cut loose back this past May.

Last year, Crabtree appeared in seven games and caught four passes for 21 yards receiving and a touchdown.
