Saints Re-Sign WR Marques Colston To A Five-Year Extension

Jason La Canfora tweets that Colston’s contract is a five-year deal worth $40M and “just under half of it guaranteed.”

This is a pretty solid deal for Colston and he’ll be able to stay in the same high powered offense that he’s been in his entire career. John Clayton mentioned that he never wanted to leave New Orleans to begin with.

Jay Glazer reports that the New Orleans Saints have re-signed WR Marques Colston to a five-year contract.

There were reports from last night that suggested that Saints were close to reaching a deal with Colston so it’s not exactly that surprising that they came to an agreement just before the start of free agency.

This is a good move for the Saints as he’s probably a more effective weapon in their offense than anyone else’s. We had Colston listed as the #5 best available free agent in our Top 50 Free Agents list.

Carl Nicks also tweeted that the Saints had offered him a contract last night and mentioned that he was giving it some thought.
