Saints Re-Signing DE Alex Okafor To Two-Year Deal Worth Up To $10M

According to Nick Underhill, the Saints are expected to re-sign DE Alex Okafor on Friday.

  • Ian Rapoport confirms the news and adds that Okafor gets a two-year deal worth up $10M from the Saints.

Okafor also had interest from the Buccaneers, but let Tampa Bay without a deal and it appears as though his best opportunity was to return to New Orleans.

Okafor, 27, is a former fourth-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2013. He played out the final year of his four-year, $2.634 million rookie contract that included a base salary of $675,000 for the 2016 season when he signed a one-year, $3 million contract with the Saints during last year.

Okafor suffered a season-ending Achilles tear last year.

In 2017, Okafor appeared in 10 games and recorded 43 tackles, 4.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and four pass defenses for the Saints. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 22 edge rusher out of 106 qualifying players.

We had him featured in our Top 50 Available 2018 NFL Free Agents list.
