Saints Re-Sign DT Jay Bromley, Release QB J.T. Barrett From PS

According to Nick Underhill, the Saints have officially re-signed veteran DT Jay Bromley to a contract on Wednesday and placed Tommylee Lewis on injured reserve.

  • New Orleans also released QB J.T. Barrett from their practice squad and signed LB Darnell Sankey to the unit.

The Saints’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. LB Vince Biegel
  2. TE Garrett Griffin
  3. DT Woodrow Hamilton
  4. DE Alex Jenkins (International)
  5. WR Keith Kirkwood
  6. OT Rick Leonard
  7. RB Jonathan Williams
  8. OL Nate Wozniak
  9. TE Deon Yelder
  10. RB Boston Scott
  11. LB Darnell Sankey

Bromley, 26, is a former third-round pick of the Giants back in 2014. He played out the final year of his four-year, $3,003,876 rookie contract and was not testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his NFL career before agreeing to a contract with the Saints back in May.

Unfortunately, the Saints elected to release Bromley this past weekend as they trimmed their roster down to 53 players.

In 2017, Bromley appeared in all 16 games for the Giants and recorded 21 tackles, one sack and a pass defense.

We had him featured in our Top 50 Available 2018 NFL Free Agents list.
