The New Orleans Saints officially released veteran CB Brandon Browner on Thursday with a post-June 1 designation.
A few months ago, Browner posted a goodbye to his teammates and the city of New Orleans on Instagram and Twitter, implying that the team has parted ways with him.
New Orleans was hoping to solidify their secondary when they signed Browner to a contract last year. However, it was almost as though he was liability for them, considering the number of personal foul penalties he drew this past season.
Browner, 31, signed a three-year, $15 million contract that included $7.75 million guaranteed. He was set to make base salary of $2.75 million in 2016 and 2017.
According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Browner will free up $2,250,000 in available cap space while creating.
In 2015, Browner appeared in all 16 games and recorded 76 tackles, one interception, a fumble recovery and 10 pass defenses for the Saints.
