Saints Release K Kai Forbath

Nick Underhill reports that the Saints have K Kai Forbath on Tuesday following the signing of K Wil Lutz.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Lutz has taken over Forbath’s locker.

It appeared as though Forbath won the job when the Saints recently cut Connor Barth, but it looks like they were still in the market at that point.

Forbath, 29, originally signed on with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of back in 2011. He lasted around eight months with the team before he was placed on waivers and later claimed by the Redskins.

Last year, Washington placed an original round tender on Forbath, but elected to cut him mid-season. Forbath wound up catching on with the Saints in October after they waived Zach Hocker

In 2015, Forbath appeared in 11 games and converted just 10 of 15 field goal attempts to go along with 34 of 35 extra point tries and 22 touchbacks.
