Saints Release RB/FB Austin Johnson From Practice Squad

Nick Underhill reports that the Saints are releasing RB/FB Austin Johnson from their practice squad.

  • It was reported yesterday that TE Jake Stoneburner will fill the vacated spot on the practice squad.

Johnson, 27, originally signed on with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent out of Tennessee back in 2012. He later signed a future/reserve contract with the Saints in January of 2013, and has been on and off of their practice squad ever since.

In 2015, Johnson appeared in 10 games and ran for nine yards on four carries (2.3 YPC) to go along with five receptions for 30 yards receiving and one total touchdown.

Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 33 fullback out of 36 qualifying players.
