Saints Release Veteran K Josh Scobee

The New Orleans Saints released veteran K Josh Scobee on Tuesday, according to Evan Woodbery.

  • The Saints also waived OT Bryan Witzmann and signed CB Jimmy Pruitt to a contract.

This leaves Kai Forbath as the only kicker on the Saints’ roster as of now.

Scobee, 33, is a former fifth-round pick of the Jaguars back in 2004. He wound up spending 11 yards in Jacksonville before he was traded to the Steelers in a deal that sent a 2016 sixth-round pick to the Jaguars last year.

Scobee lasted just over a month in Pittsburgh before he was released midseason.

The Saints elected to sign Scobee to a contract back in March, so his time with New Orleans was obviously short lived.

In 2015, Scobee converted just 60 percent of his field goal attempts including 3 of 7 from 40 yards or more. He has also missed an extra point.
