Saints Release Veteran TE Travis Beckum

Veteran TE Travis Beckum  announced via his Twitter account that he has been released by the Saints.

Beckum, 27, is former third-round pick of the New York Giants, but hasn’t seen any game action since the 2012 season.

Beckum unfortunately tore his ACL during Super Bowl XLVI and was later placed on the physically unable to perform list at the start of the 2012 regular season.

He did spend some time on the Seahawks roster during the offseason, but was released in May. The Bears later brought him in for a workout, but nothing ever came from the visit.

Beckum signed with the Saints close to two weeks ago, so his odds of making their 53-man roster were slim.

His best season in the NFL came in 2010 when he caught 13 receptions for 116 yards and two touchdowns.
