Saints Releasing Veteran DL Jason Jones

Josh Katzenstein reports that the Saints are releasing veteran DE Jason Jones on Tuesday.

The Saints just signed Jones to a contract a few weeks ago, so his stay in New Orleans was obviously short lived.

Jones, 28, is a former second-round pick of the Titans back in 2008. He spent four years in Tennessee before playing for the Seahawks and Lions.

The Dolphins signed him to a one-year, $885,000 contract with Dolphins back in May of last year but elected to waive him this past January to allow him a shot at catching on with a playoff team. However, that never happened.

Jones signed on with the Saints a few weeks into the preseason.

In 2016, Jones appeared in 14 games for the Dolphins and recorded 36 tackles, 3.5 sacks, a fumble recovery and a pass defense.
