Saints Reportedly Signing Veteran DE/OLB Cheta Ozougwu

According to ESPN’s Adam Caplan, the Saints are signing veteran DE/OLB Cheta Ozougwu to a contract.

Ozougwu, 25, was waived by the Chicago Bears a little over a month ago. He is known for being “Mr. Irrelevant” 2011 when the Texans used the final pick of the seventh round on him.

He appeared in seven games for Chicago last year and totaled three tackles, one sack and a forced fumble.

There is no question that Ozougwu will have to compete for a roster spot this summer, but the Saints appear to be looking to increase the level of competition for their defense as they prepare for OTAs and training camp.
