Saints & RT Zach Strief Agree To Restructured Deal

Nick Underhill of the Advocate reports that the Saints and RT Zach Strief have agreed to a restructured contract on Friday.

  • According to Underhill, Strief’s 2017 base salary increases from $1 million to $1.7 million and his total per-game roster bonuses go from $1.4 million to $1.7 million as part of this new deal. However, none of this is guaranteed.
  • Underhill adds that this move increases his 2017 cap figure from $5.1 million to $6.1 million.

Strief, 33, is a former seventh-round pick of the Saints back in 2006. He has played all 11 years of his NFL career in New Orleans and was in the fourth year of his five-year, $20.5 million contract that included $8.5 million guaranteed and set to make a base salary of $1 million for the 2017 season.

In 2016, Strief appeared in all 16 games for the Saints and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 12 offensive tackle out of 78 qualifying players.
