Saints RT Zach Strief Announces Retirement From NFL

On Monday, Saints RT Zach Strief announced that he’s retiring from the NFL after 12 years in New Orleans.

Reports from the past few months had said that Strief was likely to retire this offseason, so this shouldn’t come as a big surprise.

Strief, 34, is a former seventh-round pick of the Saints back in 2006. He played all 12 years of his NFL career in New Orleans and entering the final year of his five-year, $20.5 million contract that included $8.5 million guaranteed and set to make a base salary of $1.1 million for the 2018 season.

In 2017, Strief was limited to appearing in just two games for the Saints before he was placed on injured reserve after suffering ACL and MCL tears last year.
