Joel A. Erickson reports that the Saints are signing TE Garrett Griffin to a contract after he tried out for them this weekend.
- The Saints also signed OT Tyrus Thompson to a contract earlier in the day.
Griffin wound up going undrafted after the Air Force a few weeks, so this will be his first opportunity with an NFL game.
Erickson points out that Griffin is also capable of playing long snapper if needed.
During his four-year college career, Griffin caught 41 passes for 678 yards receiving (16.5 YPR) and eight touchdowns over the course 23 games. He also added 27 yards rushing on two carries.
