Saints Sign DE Cameron Jordan To A Five-Year, $60M Extension

Update:

The Saints announced that they’ve signed DE Cameron Jordan to five-year contract extension on Tuesday.

“I’m excited about this opportunity,” said Jordan. “I would like to thank Mr. Benson, the entire organization, my teammates and coaches and the New Orleans Saints fans for their support the last four years. New Orleans has become my home and I look forward to continue making an impact both on and off the field for a long time here. Now we can put our focus on the most important thing, which is working hard day in and day out towards our ultimate goal of a championship.”

“This is a great day for the New Orleans Saints and for Cameron,” said GM Mickey Loomis. “Since his arrival, Cameron has progressed into one of the core players on our team both on and off the field. He’s had a great start to his career here and we’re excited about him being one of the mainstays to our defense moving forward.”

Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports reports that the Saints and DE Cameron Jordan have agreed to a five-year extension worth up to $60 million.

  • According to Garafolo, Jordan will receive $33.8 million guaranteed and $27 million over the next two years.

While there was some talk back in March that the Saints were discussing a new contract for Jordan, there hadn’t been any updates regarding the matter since then.

Jordan, 25, had his fifth-year option picked up by the Saints back in April of last year, which means he was entering the final year of his contract and would have made a base salary of $6.969 million for the 2015 season.

In 2014, Jordan appeared in all 16 games and recorded 50 tackles, 7.5 sacks, one interception, a fumble recovery and five pass defenses. Pro Football Focus rated him as the No. 29 defensive end in a 4-3 system out of 59 qualifying players.
