Saints Sign First-Round Pick OT Andrus Peat

Rand Getlin of Yahoo Sports reports that the Saints have agreed to terms with first-round pick OT Andrus Peat on a four-year contract.

New Orleans has now locked up their entire 2015 draft class following this move.

According to OverTheCap.com, Peat is projected to receive a four-year contract worth $11,393,496, which includes a signing bonus of $6,546,180.

Peat was an interesting selection for the Saints, as many expected them to target either a pass-rusher or a cornerback at No. 13 overall. However, some felt as though Peat was the best offensive line prospect in this year’s draft class, even though Brandon Scherrf wound up being the first offensive lineman to come off the board at No. 5 overall.

Saints HC Sean Payton recently mentioned that he envisions Peat starting off at right tackle, which means he could push incumbent starter Zach Strief for the job this summer.
