Mike Garafolo of USA Today reports that the Saints have reached an agreement with GM Mickey Loomis on a five-year contract extension.
Loomis’ new contract follows a recent extension handed out to head coach Sean Payton. The Saints have done a great job of keeping their brain trust in tact despite what has been an extremely tumultuous season for them.
Loomis has some work to do as their Saints are expected to move to a 3-4 defense in 2013 and they could use some additional talent on the offensive side of the ball as well. Their top free agent is OT Jermon Bushrod, so they’ll have to find a way to work him into their salary cap.
