Saints Sign DE Phillip Hunt & WR R.J. Harris To Futures Deals

The New Orleans Saints officially signed WR R.J. Harris and DE Phillip Hunt to future/reserve contracts on Friday.

Future/reserve contracts are essentially an opportunity for players compete for a roster spot in offseason workouts and training camp.

The Saints have now signed eight players to future’s contracts including:

  1. DE Phillip Hunt
  2. WR R.J. Harris
  3. WR Shane Wynn
  4. WR Reggie Bell
  5. Alden Darby
  6. OT Bryan Witzmann
  7. Cyril Lemon
  8. CB Brandon Dixon

Hunt, 29, originally signed with the Browns as an undrafted free agent out of Houston back in 2009. He wound up playing two seasons for the Eagles before they waived/injured him last August.

Hunt, unfortunately, suffered an ACL injury that required surgery back in 2013 and wound up missing the entire season. The Lions elected to sign him to a contract back in February before later releasing him in October.

New Orleans signed him to a contract back in October before waiving him a few weeks later.

This season, Hunt has appeared in two games and recorded seven tackles and a sack.
