Saints Signing LB A.J. Klein

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Saints are signing LB A.J. Klein to a contract.

Klein previously mentioned that he planned to seek out a starting role with a new team after spending time behind Luke Kuechly and Thomas Davis in Carolina.

“Being behind Luke and Thomas Davis was a great learning experience but I’m looking for an opportunity to go somewhere and start,” Klein said.

Klein, 25, is a former fifth-round pick of the Panthers back in 2013. He has played out his four-year, $2,351,300 contract and is now in a position to test the open market as an unrestricted free agent.

In 2016, Klein appeared in 15 games for the Panthers and recorded 31 tackles, one sack, two forced fumbles and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 76 linebacker out of 87 qualifying players.
