Saints Signing OL Khalif Barnes

Nick Underhill of the Advocate reports that the Saints are signing veteran OL Khalif Barnes to a contract following his workout for the team on Monday.

  • Herbie Teope adds that Barnes receives a one-year contract from New Orleans.

The Saints brought in a number of free agents for workouts today including: QB Ricky Stanzi, G Todd Herremans, TE Bear Pascoe and TE Jack Tabb.

Barnes, 34, is a former second-round pick by the Jaguars of the 2005 NFL Draft. He spent four years with Jacksonville before signing with the Raiders in 2009.

Barnes spent the past seven years with Oakland before testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent for the past several months.

In 2015, Barnes appeared in 14 games for the Raiders, but played just 118 snaps.
