Saints Signing RB Jonathan Williams Off Broncos’ Practice Squad

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media is reporting that the Saints are signing RB Jonathan Williams off of the Broncos’ practice squad on Tuesday.

  • According to Rapoport, Williams receives a two-year contract from the Saints.

The Saints’ rushing attack has been very impressive this year, but it appears as though New Orleans felt they could still some more depth at the position.

Williams, 23, is a former fifth-round pick of the Bills back in 2016. He was in the second year of his four-year, $2.58 million contract and set to make base salaries of $540,000, $630,000, and $720,000 over the next three years when the Bills waived him coming out of the preseason.

Williams later signed on to the Broncos’ practice squad.

In 2016, Williams appeared in 10 games and rushed for 94 yards on 27 carries (3.5 YPC) and one touchdown.
