Saints Placing LT Terron Armstead On Injured Reserve, Sign LB Jason Trusnik

The New Orleans Saints have placed LT Terron Armstead on season-ending injured reserve on Wednesday, according to Nick Underhill of the Advocate.

Armstead has been dealing with knee and quad injuries this season, so with nothing left to play for, New Orleans made the decision to shut him down and not risk further injury.

Armstead, 25, is a former third-round pick of the Saints back in 2013. He’s currently in the first year of his six-year, $65.25 million contract that includes $25 million guaranteed.

In 2016, Armstead appeared in seven games for the Saints and is rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 15 offensive tackle out of 78 qualifying players.

Trusnik, 32, originally signed on with the Jets as an undrafted free agent out of back in 2007. He was later traded to the Browns as part of the Braylon Edwards deal.

Trusnik later caught on with the Dolphins in 2011 and would go on to spend four years in Miami. The Panthers signed him to a one-year deal back in March of last year, but he was unfortunately among their final roster cuts and later caught on with the Vikings towards the end of the season.

In 2015, Trusnik appeared in eight games for the Vikings and recorded 11 tackles.
