The Saints are signing veteran QB Matt Flynn to a contract on Monday, according to Katherine Terrell.

New Orleans has third-round pick Garrett Grayson behind Drew Brees, but this is a pretty good indication that they believe he isn’t ready to fill in should Brees get hurt.

Flynn, 29, hadn’t found any reported interest on the open market before the Patriots signed him to a one-year deal back in June.

The Patriots were looking to bolster their depth at quarterback following the four-game suspension handed down to Tom Brady. However, he was released just a few months later after Brady’s suspension was dropped.

The Jets signed him to a contract shortly after Geno Smith sustained a broken jaw, but he was unfortunately among their final roster cuts.

In 2014, Flynn appeared in seven games and threw for 66 yards while completing 50 percent of his passes to go along with no touchdowns and an interception in garbage time for the Packers.
